Exploring the Role of Mela Chiraghan in Educational Context

The study was investigated; (a) to observe the importance of Mela Chiraghan that how culture transmits through education; and (b) the effects of festivals of Mela Chiraghan in educational context. The study was descriptive in nature and survey in type. The questionnaire was designed; for the trainers teachers and interview were designed for teachers and informal interview was designed for the employees of Mela Chiraghan of the tomb of Shah Hussain. The population of study was all the teachers of Govt. Schools and training colleges of Lahore District. Results of the study showed that teachers agreed to attend the cultural festivals because the festivals help to our young generation to understand the cultural aspects. The majority of teachers’ opinions about festivals activities are great value to modifying our behavior in learning.

Muhammad Azeem

Mr. Muhammad Azeem is working as Assessment Expert at Punjab Education Assessment System, Govt. of The Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He has submitted his Doctoral Thesis at the Division of Education, University of Education, Lahore under Indigenous PhD Fellowship from HEC Pakistan. His area of interest is Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Testing. He has written a number of articles and research papers in different local and international magazines and journals. He has visited School of Education, University of Leicester, UK as Doctoral Research Fellow.

Khalid Masood

Project Finance Manager, CIDA, Lahore, Pakistan

Masood Khalid has very extensive experience of teaching, teacher training, and finance management. He has managed million rupees projects so far in collaboration with different donor agencies like World Bank. He started his career as subject specialist of commerce in education department. He was teaching higher secondary classes for ten years. He has worked as finance manager at Punjab Education Assessment System (PEAS) for six years. Presently he is working as project finance manager in CIDA project.

Farhat Saleem

•Mrs. Farhat Saleem is acting Vice Chancellor VC of University of Education and Principal of Bank Road Campus, University of Education , Lahore. •She did her M.A Education from University of Punjab, Lahore and her M. Ed with Specialization in Curriculum Development form University of Bristol, Bristol, UK. •On 24-07-1978 she was selected by PPSC in Grade 17 as Research Associate and worked as Research Associate, Deputy Director & Additional Director at CRDC (Curriculum Research Development Center) from 1978 to 2001. •In 1995 PPSC directly selected her as Associate Professor (Education) in BS-19. •During her working with CRDC, She arranged & attended many workshops & Seminars. •She Has Worked On Many Research Projects Like Primary Education Project, Punjab Middle Schooling Project. •She Has 27 Research Reports On Her Credit. •She Joined, Govt.
